A computer network is a group of computer systems and other
hardware items that are linked together. The infrastructure can include desktop
and laptop PCs, tablets, smart phones, printers and, increasingly, other smart
devices (known collectively as the Internet of Things).
What is a network penetration test?
A network penetration test aims to:
- Test your network & infrastructure for
weaknesses
- Check services, patch levels and configurations
- Recommend actions that can reduce your exposure
to vulnerabilities
This generally includes:
- Identifying and assessing all Internet-facing assets a criminal hacker could use as potential entry points into your network
- Assessing the effectiveness of your firewalls and other intrusion-prevention systems
- Establishing whether an unauthorised user with the same level of access as your customers and suppliers can gain access to your systems via the external network
The vulnerabilities are presented in a report that allows
you to assess the relative business risk that they represent along with the required
remedial action. These can then be resolved in line with your budget and risk
appetite.
Louise McCormack, Timbateq Limited
I had the pleasure of attending a workshop, Cybercrime- what can go wrong? as part of the #LBF (Leicester Business Festival) . I found the course to be relaxed yet informative, with Trevor’s warm and friendly style, I was able to participate without any inhibition. His knowledge has proved valuable, allowing a proactive and productive implementation of new processes in the work place.

Debbie Porter – Destination Digital Marketing
Just like A&E, the emergency services or call centres, Trevor must be often on the receiving end of somebody in distress who gets in touch with a cyber security issue and needs help **right now**. And just like James Bond, a lot of what he deals with ‘remains classified’.
I had met Trevor on FSB zoom networking sessions, and so had become aware of him and his ‘white hat’. I found myself with a pressing need to sort out an issue that had cropped up via a bad actor. I got in touch with Trevor and he responded really quickly, which in itself is a really important thing when you find yourself in crisis.
He quickly laid out a clear plan of action for the problem in hand that would keep me operating on the right side of the law whilst dealing with the security issue in hand.
I would recommend Trevor to anyone with any form of cyber security breach issue, or anyone who needs a security audit. He gave me solid advice and a clear plan to follow and in a world of sharks, he’s a dependable person to trust.

Trevor hosts all my important information on a cloud storagesystem for me. If there’s a problem, which there was at my end acouple of months ago, the system flags this up and then I get a callfrom Trevor. He sorted it out very quickly which was a relief for me! His knowledge of cybersecurity is amazing too, if a little scary………..

Julie Jordan-Spence – FSB
Trevor is concise, professional and extremely knowledgeable in all of his subjects. He recently gave a very interesting and thought provoking talk to the Federation of Small Business Virtual Networking group that I host here in Leicester, on the subject of Cyber crime. It stimulated many questions and much discussion, all of which made for a very positive meeting.

Alex Cachia – Web Nerd
Trevor travelled down to Kent in July (2022) to give a talk for CodeHarbour regarding his expertise in cyber security. His talk was incredible and opened up many discussions around web hacking and what we, as developers, can do to prevent it. I know who I’ll be calling if I get hacked that’s for sure!
